Jolinda Carr
Jolinda Winona Carr, 73, of Ocean View, died Aug. 9, 2020 at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born Nov. 29, 1946, in Kealakekua, she was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by sons, Kawehi (Pua Ha’ae) Wooten, C.J. Wooten and Chance Wooten of Ocean View; daughters, Noelani (Chris Kenyon) Wooten of Ocean View, Kahealani (Keith) Taylor of Sedro Woolley, WA, Kalae Wheeler of Captain Cook, Moana (Jeff Mayo) Wooten of Kealakekua, Casey (Ethan Morgan) Wooten of Honomalino, Corey (Kalei Loy-Rivera) Wooten and Caitlynn Wooten of Ocean View; sisters, Rebecca Pauole, Mary Donager, Florence Ah Sing, all of Kailua-Kona; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cheryl Smith
Cheryl Ann Smith, 62, of Keaau, died Aug. 7, 2020 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Utah, she was a special education teacher for Keaau High School.

She is survived by son, Daniel Smith; daughter, Diana Smith; brother, Michael Bartlett; and four grandchildren.

Masato Masaki
Masato “Norman” Masaki, 96, of Hilo, died July 10, 2020 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Jan. 8, 1924, in Kapehu, he was a journeyman mechanic for the former Hamakua Sugar Co. and retired from Fair Contracting Co.

He is survived by wife, Yukiko Masaki; daughter, Noreen Masaki; six sisters-in-law; numerous nephews and nieces.

Mary Amolato
Mary Amolato, 82, of Kailua-Kona, died Aug. 25, 2020 in Kailua-Kona. Born May 26, 1938, in Ookala, she worked as a cook at Sandy’s Drive Inn and baker for Standard Bakery.

She is survived by sons, James Avanilla and Jaime (Kaliko) Fernandez, all of Kailua-Kona, Kapono (Wana) Benson of Captain Cook, Kalani Kapela of Hilo and Kenneth Rivera of Kona; daughters, Jeanette (Michael) Thomas of Washington and Tanya (John) Mattson of Mililani, Oahu; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
