Health officials Sunday reported Hawaii County’s first new COVID-19 case in more than two weeks.
The new case brings the Big Island’s case total to 82 since Feb. 28, according to the Department of Health. Prior to Sunday’s new case, Hawaii County had not had an active case in isolation since May 29.
In addition to the new case on the Big Island, the department announced four new cases on Oahu bringing the state’s total COVID-19 case count to 728, including 12 Hawaii residents diagnosed out of state. As of noon Sunday, Oahu’s case count was 493, Maui 120 and Kauai 21.
Eighty-six people have required hospitalization, including one person in Hawaii County.
The death toll from coronavirus-related illness remained at 17, with 11 on Oahu and six on Maui.
