Hideto Yanagisawa
Hideto “Hide” Yanagisawa, 90, of Hilo, died Feb. 17, 2020, at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Facility. Born Dec. 7, 1929, in Onomea, he retired from Hawaii Electric Light Co. as an electrician, and was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Hilo and the Komohana Gardens Association.
Services will be held at a later date. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.
He is survived by wife, Teruyo Yanagisawa of Hilo; hanai sons, Kyle Yanagisawa of Aiea and Dean Yanagisawa of Honolulu; hanai daughter, Erin (David) Sekino-Yanagisawa of Utah; brothers, Lawrence (Carol) Yanagisawa and Wayne (Katherine) Yanagisawa, all of Hilo; sisters, Asayo Okimoto of Papaikou, Michiyo (John) Lewis of Florida, Tomiyo Nakaoka of Pearl City and Sachiyo Toma of Hawaii Kai; numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces and hanai grandchildren.

Milton DeLuz
Milton Andrew “Bully” DeLuz, Sr., 78, of Paauilo died Apr. 5 at home. He was born in Honokaa and was a rancher and a retired utility equipment operator with the former Hamakua Sugar Co.

Survived by sons, Milton (Tanya) DeLuz, Jr. and Brad DeLuz of Paauilo; daughters, Donna (Earl) De Silva of Kalopa, Carol (Wayne) Mathews of Hilo and Laura (Ernest) Balai of Volcano; brothers, Antone DeLuz, Jr. and Rogers (Donna) DeLuz of Paauilo; sisters, Helen Figuera of Paauilo, Bernadette (William) Ferreira of Kalopa and Geraldine (George) Tavares of Papaaloa; a sister-in-law; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary O’Brien
Mary Rose “Rosie” O’Brien, 71, of Kailua-Kona, died March 9 at her residence. Born Aug. 25, 1948, in Des Moines, Iowa, she was a retired administrative staff trainer and coordinator for Principal of Des Moines, Iowa, and a member of Mokuaikaua Church.
A celebration of life will be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of Kona, P.O. Box 4130, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96745.
She is survived by husband, Dennis O’Brien of Kailua-Kona; brother, William (Tina) Bruett of Iowa; sisters, Marcelyn (Richard) Van Houten of Colorado, Cynthia (Gary) Pannkuk of Iowa; numerous friends, nieces and nephews.

Patrick Joseph
Patrick Gordon Joseph, Jr., 60, of Mountain View, died March 22, 2020, at the Hilo Medical Center. He was born on Oahu and was a self-employed handyman.

Survived by wife, Danette Joseph of Mountain View; mother, Betty Mae Joseph of Waianae; sisters, Betty Mae (Pat) Reyes of Ewa Beach, Maria (Phillip, Sr.) Kaawa and Linda Joseph of Waianae; a mother-in-law and a brother-in-law; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Francis Kahawaiolaa
Francis Kahawaiolaa, died March 25, 2020, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was the owner of Hair DeZigns by Francis.
A celebration of life will be held at Volcano Garden Arts in Volcano Village in early summer.
Survived by life partner, Ira Ono; mother, Carol Momi B. Kahawaiolaa; sisters, Christmas Napua Kahawaiolaa and Toni Hopkins; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Darnell Garcia
Darnell Garcia, 68, of Pahoa, died March 31, 2020. Born in Wailuku in 1951, he owned a drywall business, did drywall installation for Hilo Interior, and was a member of the Lahaina Yacht Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Denese (Raymundo) Soto-Diaz and Carrie Gouveia; three sisters, Audrey (Don) Freeman, Gertrude Gilmore, and Antoinette (Frank) Robinson; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
