HONOLULU (AP) — Olympic gold medal figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi will be reading to elementary school students to launch an early childhood literacy program.
Yamaguchi will visit Linapuni and Kalihi Kai elementary schools on Tuesday.
She’s helping to launch an early childhood literacy program with Hawaii P-20 Partnerships for Education.
More than 120 kindergartners will be participating in in Always Reading, a program designed to foster a love of reading by encouraging more family involvement.
Organizers say the program provides digital books, hard-copy books and book bags for the kindergarten students and their families.
