Perfecto Mercado
Perfecto Jara Mercado, 68, of Ka‘u died Dec. 22, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 8, 1946, in Sisim, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he worked for Ka‘u Sugar and Macadamia Nut Co. in Pahala.
An all-night vigil will be held Feb. 27 at the family residence on Mamalahoa Highway in Naalehu. Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 28 at the Naalehu Assembly of God Church for a 10 a.m. service. Burial is at Naalehu Community Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.
He is survived by wife, Corazon Salmo Mercado of Ka‘u; sons, Rey (Myla Del Castillo) Mercado of Philippines, Razol (Loni) Mercado of Ocean View; daughters, Reynie (Ronnel) Calumpit and Rose S. (Sherwin Agpaoa) Mercado of Ka‘u; sisters, Constancia (Crispin) Serdenia, Lucena (Rogelio) Seruno, Lydia (Calixto) Seruno and Merly (Reyno) Salazar, all of the Philippines; brothers, Bernardino (Eperanza) Mercado, Francisco (Candida) Mercado and Jesus (Mely) Mercado, all of the Philippines; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Alvin Kaio
Alvin “Inky” Kekolo Kaio, 59, of Keopu died Nov. 30, 2014, at home. Born June 8, 1955, in Koolauloa, Maui, he was a construction laborer for Hawaiian Dredging and Construction Co., member of Labor Union Local 368 and a longtime lifeguard.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. March 7 at Kahaluu Beach Park in Kailua-Kona. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.
He is survived by wife, Gayle Kaio of Keopu; sons, Duke (Kazumi) Parker Kaio of Honolulu, Pono Kaio of San Diego, Kaena of Keopu; daughter, Anolani (Kahoalii) Hanohano of Kapolei, Oahu; parents, Jacob and Gwen Kaio of Waimanalo, Oahu; brothers, Jacob (Heather) Kaio and Adam Kaio, both of Waimanalo, Oahu, Kaala (Andrea) Kaio of Waiehu, Oahu, David (Jeana) Kaio of Makakilo, Oahu, John Kaio of Waianae, Oahu; sister, Sista (Cedric) Choy of Kaneohe, Oahu; six grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dexen Matsuyama
Dexen “Dex” “Yoj” Yoji Matsuyama, 11, of Holualoa, died Jan. 29, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Jan. 7, 2004, in Kealakekua, he was a student at Holualoa Elementary School, member of the Holualoa Robotics Team and leader of Na I Ikaika Gaming Guild.
Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. March 7 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kailua-Kona for a 10 a.m. service. A celebration of his life will follow at noon at the “big tent” at 74-550 Honokohau St., across from Honokohau Harbor in Kailua-Kona. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Kaeden “Prince” Kalama Matsuyama, 6, of Holualoa died Jan. 29, 2015, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born April 26, 2008, in Kealakekua, he was a student at Holualoa Elementary School.

James “Skip” Kent Ogilvie, 84, of Keaau died Feb. 2, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Washington, he retired as a sailor and a club manager.

He is survived by daughter, Lynn (Gilbert Lagrimas) Ogilvie of Honolulu; sons, James (Terry) Ogilvie Jr. of Honolulu, Burt (PJ) Ogilvie of Nevada; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

Patricia White
Patricia Ruth White, 82, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 18, 2015. Born Dec. 2, 1932, in Pasadena, Calif., she was a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service and attended the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in Kailua-Kona.

She is survived by sons, Michael (Kathy) White of Tooele, Utah; Steven White of Orange County, Calif.; daughter, Cheryl Wilder of Whitefish, Mont.; hanai family, Ingrid and Vicky of Hawaii; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Corrine Kananiokekapahaukea Murray, 57, of Hilo died Feb. 20, 2015, at her residence. Born April 21, 1957, in Hilo, she was a housekeeper at the Hilo Lagoon Hotel and Hilo Hawaiian Hotel.
