A wind advisory has been posted for the Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa summits through 6 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu.
The service forecast west winds of 35 mph to 50 mph with gusts topping 60 mph, according to the service.
The winds can also make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds of at least 45 mph and gusts of at least 55 kph are expected, according to the service.
