Long-time Wish Ambassador and well-known entertainer Henry Kapono has written a song titled “Angel” and plans to donate all the proceeds from iTunes sales to Make-A-Wish Hawaii. The song is currently only available on iTunes. This gift of song is debuting during Make-A-Wish Hawaii’s Season of Wishes and has no end date. However, Henry has a goal in mind.
“My goal is to generate $10,000 this holiday season, the cost of granting one Wish Kid’s wish. And then another child after that and another one after that,” he said.
Kapono will sing “Angel” at the Dec. 21 Jingle Rock Run 5K event and during 25 other performances statewide in December. Details can be found at henrykapono.com.
Kapono is a Grammy-nominated and award-winning entertainer, as well as a strong community supporter. He has worked with Make-A-Wish Hawaii for years, and most recently raised $15,000 in August from his Henry Kapono &Friends Back in the Day concert at the Waikiki Shell.
Make-A-Wish Hawaii grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. The organization has granted more than 900 wishes to Hawaii’s children.
Kona Potters Guild holds holiday sale
The Society for Kona’s Education and Arts potters guild will hold a sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Honaunau studio located between mile markers 105 and 106 south of Captain Cook at the SKEA complex. Functional and decorative ceramic pieces in traditional and contemporary designs and colors will be available. Kona coffee and other refreshments will be served.

Reception celebrates native species
Hawaii Nei will celebrate the island’s native species during a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Wailoa Center in conjunction with Hilo’s Red and White Night. Entertainment will be provided and light refreshments served at this free event. HUKA Kanikapila Ukulele Group will perform holiday music from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Along with the art exhibit and events will be a do-it-yourself printing station, using block print stamps of native species to create holiday gift wrapping paper for visitors to take with them. The exhibit’s last day is Dec. 18.
Hawaii Nei ha and the Volcano Art Center this year will announce their artist’s selection for the artist invitational exhibit in May.
