Hawaii Island police have initiated a coroner’s inquest case in connection with a body of a Keaau man found last weekend in the Hawaiian Acres subdivision.
Puna patrol officers responded to a 12:43 p.m. call Saturday and received information that a man had been cleaning up his property on Road G following a Halloween party, when he discovered a body along the northeast corner of his property.
The victim, identified on Friday as 23-year-old John Shuman, had last been seen walking in the area of the Halloween party, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
Area I Criminal Investigations Section detectives have ruled out foul play after preliminary results of an autopsy conducted Nov. 4, but are awaiting results on toxicology findings for a determination of the exact cause of death.
