Thomas Hoffman
Thomas Charles Hoffman, 82, of Hilo, died on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Life Care Center of Hilo. He was born on May 11, 1937, in Alleghany, Pennsylvania. He was a former owner of Boat House Hawaii.

He is survived by wife, Barbara Hoffman of Hilo; sons, Mark (Lani) Hoffman of Baytown, Texas and Jeffrey Hoffman of Baytown, Texas; 3 grandchildren.

Fumiko Hakoda
Fumiko “Pat” Hakoda, 92, of Hilo, died April 27, 2019, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was a retired teacher whose career spanned 32 years. She was a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Church of the Holy Cross, Project Dana, Fukuoka Kenjinkai, East Hawaii Hiroshima Kenjinkai, Panaewa Kumiai and Kula Wahines, Golden Girls, Women’s AJA, Anuenue Golf Clubs as well as several other golf clubs.
Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. June 1 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by sons, Gaine (Diane) Hakoda and Donn (Ruby) Hakoda of Hilo; daughter, Wynne (Raynard) Peralta of Hilo; four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Takiyo Tanaka
Mrs. Takiyo Tanaka, 95, of Kealakekua, died May 7, 2019, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born in Kona on April 30, 1924, she was a retired cafeteria worker at Honaunau Elementary School. She was a coffee, papaya and macadamia nut farmer. She was a member of Kona Hongwangi Buddhist Temple, Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Women’s Association, Toho no Hikari, Kona Kumamoto Kenjin Kai and Akitsu-Kumi.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. June 8 at Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Kealakekua. Memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. The family requests casual attire and no flowers.
She is survived by her son, Wayne (Fay) Tanaka of Kona; daughters, Lynn Tanaka of Kona and Susan Higuchi of Honolulu; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Peter Rodrigues
Peter “Braddah” M. Rodrigues, 77, of Mountain View and formerly of Kalihi, Oahu, died on April 26, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on March 8, 1942, in Hilo, he was formerly employed by Pacific Concrete, Oahu; drove for MTL, Honolulu; retired tour bus driver for Polynesian Adventure Tours, Big Island; and self-employed mason. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran; member of New Hope – Volcano.
Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. May 31 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo. Funeral service begins at 10 a.m.; burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.
He is survived by wife, Frances Rodrigues; sons, Darrell (Niki) Rodrigues and Shane Rodrigues; daughters, Desiree (Willo) Raymond, Georgie (Julz) Lee, Shannon (Jose) Liilii, Sheri (Joe) Raymond, Carolene Kawaakoa, Krystal Raymond and Kasey Rodrigues; sister, Sarah (Raymond) Baoy; brother, Austin (Walene) Oili; 23 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Lulu Montibon
Lulu Montibon, 80, of Hilo, died May 22, 2019, in Hilo. Born on Sept. 2, 1938, in North Hilo, she was a retired housekeeper for the former Hilo Lagoon Hotel and Waiakea Villas.
Friends may call 4-6 p.m. June 3 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Friends may call again 9-10:30 a.m. June 4 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 10:30 a.m. service. Casual attire, flowers and lei are welcomed. Burial will follow at noon at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2.
She is survived by husband, Filemon “Bobby” Montibon of Hilo; daughter, Debbie (Larry) Suenishi of Hilo; sons, Juan Saniatan of Waimea, Dennis (Sharon) Saniatan, Gordon (Loretta) Montibon, Glenn Montibon, Nelson (Jocelyn) Montibon, Mervin (Lona) Montibon of Kona, Russel (Donna) Montibon of Keaau and Vernon (Penny) Montibon of Kurtistown; brothers, Richard Salvador of Oahu, Clarence Salvador of Hilo, Harvey Salvador of California and William Ma’e Sr. of Keaau; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
