KAILUA-KONA — No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude-7.0 earthquake that struck Friday morning in southern Alaska.

The earthquake was recorded at 7:29 a.m. about 35 miles southwest of Palmer, Alaska, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said. Based on all available data, the center said a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.
