KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii County Mayor Harry Kim, who was medevaced after feeling chest pains on Thursday, is feeling much better after procedures done at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, the county said in a statement Friday morning.
The mayor continued to have tests and procedures on Friday, but there wasn’t a diagnosis yet, said Wil Okabe, the county’s managing director, who is serving as acting mayor while the mayor is on sick leave.
“Harry’s feeling much better today after the procedures done Thursday,” said Okabe.
Okabe said there has been an outpouring of well wishes and expressions of affection for the mayor from the community.
“We really appreciate your continued prayers and best wishes to him and his family,” Okabe said. “We will continue to keep the community posted.”
The 78-year-old mayor drove himself to Hilo Medical Center around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, and was medevaced to Oahu around 6:45 a.m. The mayor has had three previous heart attacks, and underwent quadruple bypass surgery in 2008.
Wish Kim well although I think he is the wrong man for the job. However I find it interesting that he has to go off Island to get the help he needs for something we should have here on the BI. This should be a wake up call to Kim and all lawmakers they need to stop focusing on trivial crap and get people and services that are strongly needed for us residents and tourists.
He should crook or go away.
I would like to see someone ask him at a press conference if he thinks the services he needed to go off Island should be offered to residents on our Island? My goodness have you see Maui’s hospital? Go look that up….never really hear of complaints there!
