KAILUA-KONA — An extended furlough inmate missing since failing to check in with his case manager on Jan. 26 at Hawaii Community Correctional Center’s Hale Nani Reintegration Center in Hilo has been located.
Troy Chung-Hoon, 35, was arrested Monday morning by Hawaii Police Department officers and returned to Hawaii Community Correctional Center (HCCC), according to the state Department of Public Safety. Chung-Hoon was part of Hale Nani Reintegration Center’s extended furlough program in which participants live and work outside of the facility but must check in at various times throughout the month.
At the time of his failure to check in, Chung-Hoon was serving time for operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant. The department said he now faces a charge of second-degree escape.
