Why is it that
we vote?
How many times have we heard “We get the government we deserve?” Plenty, but I don’t think we deserve this.
Please tell me Billy Kenoi and Bobby Jean Leithead Todd why should we vote when time after time those in office and favored government positions act as though the rules, laws and regulations do not apply to them? And the 6-3 council vote confirming Leithead Todd tells us exactly who in addition to Kenoi and Leithead Todd are in favor of this continued malfeasance — Poindexter, Onishi, Ilagan, Kern, Kanuha and Yoshimoto.
I realize they are only mimicking their superiors in higher office. After all for more than four and a half years we have witnessed Mr. “If Congress won’t act, I will” put aside laws and constitutional dictates when it suits him — illegal appointments to the National Labor Relations Board; nondefense of the Defense of Marriage Act; amnesty to illegals; supplying guns to the Mexican drug cartels; dictating to businesses where they can locate (Boeing); telling federal contractors who they have to hire; waiving welfare work requirements; intervening in the bankruptcy law in the take-over of General Motors and, of course, his pick and choose method of implementing Obamacare. Needless to say I could go on and on.
Perhaps Kenoi aspires to higher office since he will be termed out and he needs Leithead Todd to do his bidding until that time. But to completely disregard the newly amended charter requirement is a slap in the face to the voters. To add injury to insult, Leithead Todd’s attorney is working feverishly to get Brenda Ford’s lawsuit thrown out on a technicality, saying the type of action filed is not proper.
Does the position require an engineering or similar hard science degree or not? Yes, and the voters agreed by more than a 3 to 1 ratio to the requirement by voting in favor of the charter amendment. So come on guys, quit wasting our time and money and just do what’s right will ya?
