Wyland Oceanfront Gallery is hosting what it claims is the largest fine art event in the history of Kailua-Kona. For the first time, more than 20 Big Island artists will be gathered under one roof, for one night only, displaying their finest works. This year, for the first time, the public will vote for their favorite artwork; where five awards will be given out at 9 p.m. today.
Voting started Thursday evening with hundreds of new artworks on display. All the artists will be appearing today between 6 and 9:30 p.m. to meet and greet all patrons and art enthusiasts who attend the event. Autograph and photo opportunities will also be available throughout the evening. All artwork will be specially priced for sale through 11 a.m. Sunday. Wine, cheese, pupu and refreshments will also be available, as well as balloons for the keiki. Voters are also entered to win fine art. All Best of the West art will remain on display until 11 a.m. Sunday with first through fifth place ribbons donning the winning art.
Robert Thomas, perhaps one of the most famous artists on the Big Island (with two of his own galleries) will return to Wyland Gallery where it all began 25 years ago. Scott Hanson and Brad “Tiki Shark” Parker join the list of internationally acclaimed artists including Penny Gupton, Ben Raquinio, Dave Golston, Rick Sharp, Christian LaCuesta, Mark Tomczak, Rod Crisp, Tom Pendergrass, Dave Cameron, Rose Adare, Tim and Genevieve Goalen, Bea Isreal, Diane Tunnell, Sigmund Aberin, Helly Batha, Stan Szerlip and Jeff Andrade Hemming. Being introduced at the event are Sharon Ottaviano, Kris Ti, Tyson Bourassa and Danielle Zirkelbach.
