Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Kaupulehu is the top hotel and resort in Hawaii, according to Travel + Leisure magazine. The North Kona resort was also listed among the top hotels in the world by readers of the travel industry publication.
The resort, located about 15 miles north of Kailua-Kona, was ranked No. 1 in the top 25 hotels and resorts in Hawaii category of the magazine’s 2014 World’s Best Awards. Rounding out the top five were: Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea; Halekulani on Oahu; Four Seasons Resort Lanai, The Lodge at Keole; and Trump International Hotel Waikiki Beach Walk on Oahu.
Other Big Island hotels ranked on the best hotels and resorts in Hawaii were: Mauna Lani Bay Resort and Bungalows (16); Mauna Kea Beach Hotel (20); and The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii (24).
The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Kaupuhelu also earned the 22nd spot on the magazine’s top 100 list of hotels worldwide. Other Hawaii properties ranked in the Top 100 were: Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea (47) and Halekulani on Oahu (95).
The magazine’s readers also ranked the Four Seasons Resort at Historic Kaupulehu the No. 2 hotel spa in Hawaii, preceded by Fairmont Kea Lani on Maui and anteceded by the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea.
The results of the reader survey, conducted between Dec. 2, 2013, and March 31 were released by the magazine last week.
Travel + Leisure is a travel industry publications with a readership largely comprised of world travelers. The magazine’s 2014 World’s Best Awards are announced in the August issue and include rankings of best hotels, cities, islands, airlines tour operators and safari outriggers, rental-car agencies, destination spas and hotel spas worldwide.
