The Kailua Village Artists gallery will hold a public reception from 4 to 7 p.m. April 19 at its new Kona Marketplace location. The cooperative is celebrating the works of member artists Barbara Denman and Bill Jaeger. Light pupu will be served.
Denman spent several years designing ladies clothing before moving to Kailua-Kona and launching into a serious painting career. She also grows, designs, carves and decorates ipu, using the ancient umeke pawehe method, where the gourd is dyed from the inside out.
Jaeger completely immersed himself in the art of stained glass after moving to Hawaii Island in 2004. Each piece is an original design of hand-cut glass fused together with the copper foil method. Jaeger’s portfolio includes stained glass panels, night-lights and sun catchers with tropical motifs. He also accepts commission work.
The gallery is located at 75-5729 Alii Drive, Suite C-110, across the street from the Kona Inn Shopping Village. The gallery is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.
