James Hikaru Hinomiya, 70, of Pahoa died Feb. 20 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pepeekeo, he was a retired school bus driver and a member of Solid Rock Ministries in Pahoa.
Friends may call at 6 p.m. March 22 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a funeral service at 7. Friends may call again at 9 a.m. March 23 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a prayer service at 10. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery . The family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by wife, Charlotte “Amoo” Lewi-Hinomiya of Pahoa; daughter, Marlo Hinomiya of Hilo; stepdaughter, Tanya (Robert) DeCoito of Hilo; hanai children Kelcey Bungula of Pahoa, Traci Bungula of Hilo, Destiny Akiona of Hilo, Kuulei Akiona of Hilo, Christian Akiona of Hilo; sisters, Harriette (Ronald) Rompon of Honolulu and Mae (Thomas) Tahara of Honolulu, Adeline Sakamoto of Honolulu, Violet Gomes of Hilo, Sharon Moromisato of Hilo; numerous nieces and nephews.
