Dave Wagner needs to stop drinking the Kool-Aid.
To compare an illegal immigrant to a rapist, a hit-and-run driver, or an arsonist is not funny.
It’s also illegal to jaywalk or talk on your phone while driving.
An illegal immigrant is someone who has migrated to America with out proper documentation, which is an undocumented immigrant. You don’t go to prison for life for not having a green card. It’s not a violent act.

Skewing the facts
Fortunately it is rare to find a letter writer as vitriolic as David Wagner in his recent letter castigating undocumented immigrants, likening them to rapists and other violent criminals.
Unfortunately, it is not so rare to find someone so willing to skew the facts to fit his vitriol. The anti-immigrant camp seems to be full of them.
To be in this country without documentation is not, in itself, a crime. It is treated as a civil matter and dealt with through the deportation process. In fact, there are instances in which it would be entirely legal to be in this country without documentation, such as when an individual is pursuing a legitimate claim of political asylum, for example.
In short, it serves no purpose, other than stirring anger and resentment toward immigrants, documented and undocumented, by likening some of them to felons.
Mr. Wagner claims to want to start with the truth. It would help if he checked his facts before slandering so many people whose only crime is wanting to pursue the American dream.
