‘Embarrassed and
disgusted’ by Trump
I am an 82-year-old grandfather and former U.S. Marine who loves the United States and the people in it, and I am embarrassed and disgusted by what our nation has become with Donald Trump’s presidency.
I’m embarrassed by the recent treatment of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office and the lies that he is a dictator (he won his election by 73%) and that Ukraine started the war (Russia invaded the sovereign nation of Ukraine in February 2022.)
I’m disgusted with Russia’s kidnapping of children, rape and torture of citizens, the bombing of schools, hospitals and infrastructure.
I’m disgusted with Trump’s illegal impoundment of funds allocated by Congress for Ukraine and his withholding of intelligence information to support Ukraine’s defense efforts that will lead to more unnecessary Ukrainian deaths.
I’m disgusted with Trump’s support of Benjamin Netanyahu and the eradication of Palestinians from both Gaza and the West Bank. Ironically, both these individuals would, most likely, be in jail if they weren’t heads of state.
I’m embarrassed by our abusive treatment of our neighbors to the north and south.
I’m embarrassed by our treatment of our 80-year-old alliance with Europe.
And, finally, I’m disgusted by Trump siding with Vladimir Putin, repeating his talking points, and doing his bidding, with the resultant tragedy of the loss of worldwide trust in the United States. It will take decades, if ever, to build it back.
If we open our eyes to what many do not wish to see, we see that Trump is a traitor who is loyal only to power, money and himself.

Bad location for a
temporary morgue
With due respect to all involved in the temporary Hilo morgue already under construction, I register my strong opposition to the morgue’s proposed management, and to its current location next to senior housing.
A temporary morgue seems much better suited to be built on, or adjacent to, hospital property and operated by the Department of Health, not the Hawaii Police Department.
Police, who are licensed to kill, should not have oversight and custody of deceased people. That’s an obvious and dangerous conflict of interest with no adequate or independent checks and balances.
Please relocate the two 40-foot morgue containers, all equipment and fencing to the Hilo hospital grounds to be managed and operated by the DOH.
Let cops be cops.

Hawaii lawmakers
must hinder Trump
We have an unhinged, lying, insane psychopath sitting in the White House.
He has allowed a person who no one voted for access to American citizens’ private information such as Social Security numbers, date of birth and bank account information, etc.
This man, with the most important job in America, has inflicted so much pain and suffering on so many people, yet no one seems able to stop the insanity.
Gov. Josh Green and all of the U.S. senators and representatives in Hawaii need to step up and at least try to curtail the craziness that is happening on a daily basis.
