The Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) boys volleyball season continued to kick off Monday around the isle.

Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i boys volleyball got off to a strong start to its season with a four-set victory over Kea‘au at home. The Warriors started 2025 with a 1-0 record, while the Cougars fell to 0-4.

KSH won by scores of 25-14, 23-25, 29-27 and 25-15.

Three Warriors reached double digits in kills — freshman outside hitter Mystiq Rosario with 16, junior outside hitter Jaydan Borling-Lewi with 14 and junior middle blocker Gavin Leeman with 10. Teammate junior setter Analu Kaholokai-Yockman dished out a match-high 41 assists on 93 attempts. Defensively, defensive specialist sophomore Lincoln Jardine tallied 18 digs, while the entire team logged 13 total blocks.

On Kea‘au’s side, Cashez Kenui led the group with 14 kills. Teammate Jason Lyman recorded 19 assists on 60 attempts. Zander Silva had a team-high 18 digs. The Cougars blocked six shots total.

KSH returns to the floor after finishing second in BIIF Division I last season and making the state tournament. The Warriors’ next matchup will be up against Pahoa in KSH’s annual volleyball tournament at 4:15 p.m. Friday in Kea‘au. The Warriors will also face Kapa‘a and Francis Parker later that night.

Kea‘au will return to the floor at 5 p.m. Thursday in Pahoa town to take on the Daggers.

Parker 3, HPA 0

Parker boys volleyball won its season opener against Hawaii Preparatory Academy in straight sets inside Castle Gymnasium. The Waimea schools matchup was won by a sweep of 25-18, 25-17 and 26-24. The Bulls moved to 1-0, while Ka Makani fell to .500 at 1-1.

Parker is coming off a 7-5 2024 season, looking to improve that mark this year. HPA went 5-6 last season.

The Bulls and Ka Makani’s next match is to be announced.
