Hazard mitigation plan meetings next week

The Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency invites residents to upcoming meetings for the 2025 Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan update.

Community meetings will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the following dates and locations:

— Monday, Feb. 24, at the West Hawaii Civic Center, Building G (74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway, Kailua-Kona);

— Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Na Leo TV (91 Mohouli St., Hilo). This meeting will be broadcast live at www.naleo.tv. The recording will be posted on Civil Defense’s website.

The Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan identifies strategies and actions to reduce the risk to residents from natural disasters.

According to a press release, “public input will help revise the plan, last updated in 2020, to enhance public safety and build community resilience.”
