A hometown hero will be giving back to the West Hawai‘i community this weekend in Kona town.
Taiana Tolleson, a Konawaena High School alum who currently plays goalkeeper for Lexington Sporting Club of the USL Super League, will be hosting her own soccer clinic this Sunday at Pualani Blue Park — open to keiki ages 6-17.
The 6-12 age group will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., while 13-17 will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. A hydration station and soccer balls will be provided to the campers during the day.
As of Wednesday evening, around 50 keiki have registered. However, those still interested in participating are encouraged to sign up. Admission is $50 per player.
Tolleson is the only professional soccer player to hail from the Big Island, so don’t miss this special opportunity to learn from one of the best athletes to ever come out of Hawai‘i!
“Being born and raised in Kona and making it professionally means the world to me,” Tolleson told the paper. “But it’s important to reflect back on not having many role models or anyone before me come from this town. So I will always make it a priority to pour back into the community that raised me.
“We hope to inspire the next generation and teach them soccer and life skills they will take with them forever.”
