Carolyn Ann Kaneiheilani Lewellen, 83, of Kailua-Kona died April 24 at home. Born in Honolulu of Hawaiian heritage, she was part-owner of a general merchandise store in Southern California, part-owner of a pharmacy/general merchandise store in the San Francisco Bay Area and later owned a catalog merchandise sales business in the Bay Area. She also sang as a member of the Lamp Lighters choir in San Francisco and the Kona Music Society. Survived by husband, James Lewellen of Kailua-Kona, sons, John (Yessi) Worthington of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Matt McGivern of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Molly McGivern of Pahoa; sister, Jean (Don) Sheik of Laguna Woods, Calif.; a grandchild. Janet May Lum, 72, of Pahoa, died Dec. 24 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born on Oahu, he was a homemaker. Private services held. Solomon Kekukulupa‘ao- keolamauloaokahikihou- anamaionahanahouokalani “Kukulu” Akau, 85, of Kawaihae died Sept. 13 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Kawaihae, he was a retiree from Global International in Kwajalein, U.S. Army veteran and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Waimea 1st Ward. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Waimea. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Urn burial to follow at Waimea County Cemetery, Mormon Section. Mel Aurio, 67, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 19 at Kohala Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a light equipment operator at Kona Country Club, produce clerk at Sack N Save Kona, and a former SP4 of the Hawaii Army National Guard.
