KA’UPULEHU-KONA — Five members of the World Golf Hall of Fame have committed to the season-opening 2025 Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai, set for January 16-18 on the Island of Hawaii.
“Every year the strength of our field at Hualalai is bolstered by World Golf Hall of Famers,” said Tournament Manager Kelly Fliear. “We are thrilled to welcome back these five legends for another wonderful week in Hawaii.”
Three-time winner of the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai (2009, 2014, 2017) Bernhard Langer will tee it up for the 18th time at Hualalai Golf Course. The 67-year-old has rewritten the record books, earning his 47th win on PGA TOUR Champions in his last outing at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship in November. He has at least one win in each of his 18 years on the Champions Tour dating back to 2007.
65-year-old Fred Couples is set to make his 15th appearance at Hualalai. The four-time runner-up at this event (2010, 2014, 2017, 2020) owns 14 victories overall on the Champions Tour dating back to 2010.
Fiji’s Vijay Singh will make his ninth appearance at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship. Singh, whose best result at this event was T3 in 2022, has five wins on PGA TOUR Champions.
South Africans Ernie Els and Retief Goosen will make their sixth and fifth appearances, respectively. Els won three times in 2024, including a senior major (Kaulig Companies Championship), en route to finishing No. 2 in the Charles Schwab Cup standings. Goosen won the 2024 Galleri Classic for his third victory overall on PGA TOUR Champions.
A total of 27 members of the World Golf Hall of Fame have competed in the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai since 1997. In addition to Langer, Hale Irwin (1997, 2007), Larry Nelson (2001) and Tom Kite (2002) are the other Hall of Famers who have won at Hualalai.
All three rounds of the 2025 Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai will be televised live on GOLF Channel, Jan. 16-18. Fans who are interested in attending the event are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time by visiting MECgolf.com.
