Tiger Woods’ son Charlie hits first hole-in-one at PNC Championship

(Reuters) — Charlie Woods, the 15-year-old son of golf great Tiger Woods, hit his first ever hole-in-one on Sunday during the final round of the PNC Championship in Orlando, Florida.

The moment came on the par-three fourth hole and propelled the Woods duo into the lead at the family-centred tournament.

Team Woods had opened the final round with back-to-back birdies, followed by a par on the par-five third hole before the stunning hole-in-one.

“It was a perfect seven-iron,” Charlie Woods told the Golf Channel. “It was awesome. I didn’t think it went in … until I go up there and see it.”

Tiger and his son Charlie are chasing their first title at the event, which features 20 champions competing alongside a member of their family.

Phillies acquire LHP Jesus Luzardo from Marlins for prospects

(FLM) — The Philadelphia Phillies acquired left-handed starter Jesus Luzardo from the Miami Marlins on Sunday.

The team also will receiver minor league catcher Paul McIntosh from the Marlins in exchange for shortstop Starlyn Caba and outfielder Emaarion Boyd.

MLB Pipeline lists Caba as Philadelphia’s No. 4 prospect and Boyd as No. 23.

Luzardo, 27, has a 26-34 career record and a 4.29 ERA in 105 games (89 starts) with the Oakland Athletics (2019-21) and Marlins. in 2024, he was limited to 12 starts due to both left elbow tightness and a lumbar stress reaction that ended his season on June 22.

He was 3-6 with a 5.00 ERA.

Luzardo, appearing at a Marlins holiday community event, told MLB.com on Tuesday that he’s feeling well.

“(I’ve) been able to go through my normal offseason progression: throwing, running, starting to get off the mound,” Luzardo said. “Feeling really good (with my) elbow, back, whole body, and just really gearing up for spring training and eyeing down that opening day to be 100 percent full-go, which for now, everything feels really good, and we are full-go.”

In 2023, he finished 10-10 with a 3.58 ERA in 32 regular-season starts. He struck out 208 batters in 178 2/3 innings.

Magic’s Wagner suffers season-ending knee injury

ORLANDO, Fla. (TNS) — The Magic‘s worst fear came true Sunday afternoon after center Moritz Wagner suffered a left knee injury in the first quarter of Saturday’s game against the Miami Heat at Kia Center.

Wagner underwent an MRI on Sunday and results revealed he sustained a torn ACL in his left knee, the Orlando Sentinel learned.

G Alex Caruso lands contract extension from Thunder

(FLM) — The Oklahoma City Thunder agreed to a contract extension with veteran guard Alex Caruso on Sunday, with ESPN reporting the deal at four years and $81 million.

A standout on defense, Caruso has averaged 5.7 points with 2.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and a career-best 1.9 steals in 19 games this season, his first with the Thunder. Caruso, 30, was traded from the Chicago Bulls in the offseason for Josh Giddey.

In eight NBA seasons, Caruso has scored 6.8 points with 2.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals in 382 games (130 starts) for the Los Angeles Lakers (2017-21), Bulls (2021-24) and Thunder.
