KEA‘AU — Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i boys soccer remained unbeaten after a 4-0 rout of the visiting Konawaena Wildcats on Friday at home.
Micah Chung, who leads the Warriors in goals through four matches, scored two goals — one in the fourth minute and the other in the 13th. Teammate Princeton Kuamo‘o scored in the seventh minute, while Landon Fukui scored the final goal of the afternoon in the 62nd.
KSH, who moved to 4-0-0 to lead the BIIF, will next take the pitch Tuesday against the Cougars at Kea‘au High School. The Wildcats (2-2-0) will return to action on Saturday against Honoka‘a at Julian R. Yates Field.
Following the Warriors boys team’s win, KSH and Kona girls took the pitch for a matchup. The Lady Warriors routed the Lady Wildcats 8-0, scoring five goals in the first half and three in the second.
KSH’s Inalei Haunga notched a hat trick, scoring in the 12th, 13th and 14th minute of action. Teammate Madisyn Meyers had two goals in the 40th and 66th minute. Lily Kay-Wong (47th minute), Alohi Kalaola-Maruquin (67th minute) and Mikaila Aina (16th minute) rounded out the rest of the scoring.
Now at 2-1-1 to begin the year, the Lady Warriors will next take the pitch against Ka Makani at 3 p.m. Friday at HPA.
The Wildcats (1-3-0) will return to action against Kealakehe this afternoon at Waverider Stadium.
Hilo 8, Kealakehe 2
Thanks to Hilo girls soccer’s well-balanced offense, the Lady Vikings routed Kealakehe 8-2 on Saturday afternoon in Hilo.
The Lady Vikings were led by junior Aneala Sibyan and Lindsey Hiraki, who posted two goals apiece. Teammates Lilinoe Tonelli, Aelani Kuikahi-Keolanui, Titahni Rupano-Parada-Kaawaloa, Sharlette Chartrand and Maiya Kepoo-DeConte added one goal each. Hilo scored four goals in the first half and four more in the second.
The Lady Waveriders scored their two goals in the second half — one by Naia Garana and the other by Lilian Soares.
Hilo moved to 3-1-1 on the season. The Lady Vikings will be back on the pitch this afternoon against Waiakea at home. Kealakehe (0-2-0) will also be back in action today, slated to play Kona at Waverider Stadium.
HPA 9, Parker 0
Hawaii Preparatory Academy boys soccer routed local rival Parker School on Friday afternoon in Waimea, winning 9-0.
Ka Makani’s Kauila Kapuniai, Kena Craven and Pedro Pipponzi scored two goals apiece, while teammates Devin Cordeiro, Chazz Pagano and Bodie Buczyna
added one each.
HPA improved to 2-1-0 on the season. Ka Makani will next play Jan. 4 against Kealakehe in Kona town.
The Bulls remain winless at 0-3-0. They’ll next return to the field Friday against the Cougars at Kea‘au campus.
HPA 10, Ka‘u 0
HPA girls soccer had a successful business trip to Pahala on Saturday morning, routing the Lady Trojans 10-0 at Ka‘u High School.
Ka Makani’s Madie Buczyna and Nina Cipirano led the winners with two goals each, followed by Nohea Lansdale, Tae Detwiler, Zaylee Moses, Kat Baker and Malia Oettit scoring one apiece. Ka‘u also scored on its own goal.
Goalkeeper Reece Lustik was awarded the shutout.
HPA (2-1-0) will play Konawaena on Wednesday in Waimea, while the Lady Trojans (0-3-0) will host Honoka‘a on Jan. 6 in Pahala.
Kea‘au 3, Waiakea 1
Kea‘au boys soccer won Friday’s match against Waiakea by a score of 3-1 at home.
The paper was not able to obtain the match’s goal scorers by deadline.
The Cougars (1-1-0) will next play Tuesday against unbeaten KSH at home, while the Warriors (1-2-1) will face Honoka‘a on Wednesday on the Hamakua Coast.
