Waiakea routs Ka‘u
Seven different Waiakea girls soccer players scored at least one goal during Monday afternoon’s match against Ka‘u in Pahala. The Lady Warriors won comfortably in 9-0 fashion.
Charlie Silva and Daye Yanazaki led the winners with two goals apiece, followed by Kalia Franklin, Sadee Tamanaha, Oili Aloy, Lily See and Ailani Franklin securing one each.
Starting the season off 4-0-0, Waiakea has outscored opponents 24-1 thus far. The Lady Warriors will aim to keep their hot start going in today’s match against Kelakehe, expected to start at 3 p.m. at Waiakea High School.
The Lady Trojans (0-2-0) will return to the pitch at at 11 a.m. Saturday at home to face Hawaii Preparatory Academy.

The Konawaena High School Athletic Department is now taking applications for the following Athletic Coaching positions:
• Flag football, girls – Program Head/Varsity Head Coach
• Track and field – Assistant Coaches, Specialty Areas
In addition to the below listed qualifications, a new athletic hire will be required to complete NFHS Coaching Certification classes.
Preferred qualifications are:
• College degree, college and/or high school-level coaching experience and collegiate playing experience, all in the sport of expertise.
Minimum qualifications are:
• High school diploma
• High school and/or community, youth group or club coaching experience in the sport of expertise.
All applicants must also be able to pass a DOE legal background check, present a valid driver’s license, social security card and provide a current TB test certification.
