HILO — Konawaena girls basketball earned its second Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) win of the season over Hilo on Monday, blasting the Vikings 73-5 over on the eastern side of the island.
Kona (3-2 overall, 2-0 BIIF) was led by Aubrey Pak, who scored a game-high 14 points. Teammate Kiilei Leleiwi followed behind her with 10 points. Stephanie Hirowatari led the hosts with two points.
The Wildcats next host Waiakea on Tuesday night inside Ellison Onizuka Gymnasium. Hilo (2-3 overall, 1-1 BIIF) will seek redemption against local rival Waiakea on Saturday night inside the Warriors’ gymnasium. Junior varsity will tip off first at 5 p.m.

Kea‘au 36
Waiakea boys basketball maintained its undefeated start to 2024-25 after beating Kea‘au on Monday night at home. The Warriors beat the Cougars 48-36.
Waiakea’s Josiah Anuimuia finished the night with a game-high 17 points, followed by teammate Espn Pacheco with 11. Kea‘au’s Jaizaiah Pahinui-Willets was the only visiting player in double-figure scoring with 16.
While the Warriors next play Konawaena early next week, the Cougars will have a quick turnaround — facing St. Joseph’s at 6 p.m. Thursday at home.
KSH 47, Parker 27
Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i girls basketball secured its third BIIF win on Monday night against Parker, winning 47-27. The Bulls remained winless, falling to 0-2.
The Warriors were led by Kacie Febo-Santiago, who scored 14 points and two 3-point makes. Febo-Santiago remains KSH’s top scorer at 11.3 points per game through eight games. Teammate Melony Urbina added 13, while Shalian Benevides had 12.
Adalyn Ballard was Parker’s top scorer with 12 points, the only Bull reaching double figures. Her sister, Briley Ballard, and teammate Kennedi Grace Magaoay added seven points apiece.
KSH (5-3 overall, 3-0 BIIF) will next take on Ka‘u on Thursday night in Pahala. Junior varsity will play first at 4:30 p.m.
Parker will drive to the east side to face the Christian Liberty Canefire at 6 p.m. Friday in Kea‘au.
Ka‘u 44, Honoka‘a 40
Ka‘u girls basketball moved to 2-0 in BIIF play and 4-1 overall after a narrow 44-40 victory over Honoka‘a on Monday inside Ka‘u District Gymnasium.
The Lady Dragons fell to 2-2 in the BIIF and 2-4 overall.
The Lady Trojans next take the court against KSH on Thursday at one. Honoka‘a will host Pahoa at 6 p.m. Friday in Honoka‘a town.
