There’s a kind of hush all over the world.

Words to a nice, sweet song, but now it’s the hush of nervous fear inside everyone after the election. A pensive silence, an angst, like the quiet fear of a soldier before the fight, the dread in a boxer before entering the ring.

The fear is that no one knows what Trump’s going to do, but everyone knows it’s going to be big and horrible and bizarre.

We only have to look at his record. Telling people to inject bleach in their veins, buddying up to Nazis, sleeping with prostitutes, inciting riots, these are what he’s done with worse to come.

Darkness is already descending. Trump will use the military like a dictator to round up immigrants. He will ban abortion nationwide, loosen gun control and arrest his political enemies, also the act of a dictator.

He doesn’t need anyone’s vote, so anything goes with his dangerous whims.

He holds the bomb, the congress, the courts, and our lives in his hands. The threat of impeachment, prison, or personal shame can’t stop him from doing anything he wants to our country.

He has no morals or ethics to rein him in, he’s a loose cannon priming to fire away at the walls of our country. Our fortress is built on hope, trust and freedom but the walls will crack when the president is corrupt.

He has blasted through decency, respect of law, and normal behavior, and after each snub he taunts us with a cocky grin.

He is not our president, we are his subjects. There is not one person in the whole country that can stand up to Trump. Kamala tried, Hillary tried, but the rancid tide of Trump’s followers swept all goodness away. But his buffalo horned followers will be sorry. Their creation will turn on them. Their rights will go too.

Already he’s appointing loonies to run the country, a health director that had a worm in his brain, an intelligence director with no experience with intelligence, a playboy on drugs. He’s invited Putin to dinner to plan the defeat of Ukraine.

It’s unfolding before our eyes and there is nothing practical to do about it, no written law that can stop him.

But really, so what? He will act crazy, take away rights, and do stupid things. We’ll have gut-wrenching times in the four years ahead, but there is nothing to fear. There’s a built in security in us, a surety in our soul that says everything’s OK and always will be.

We are absolutely sure that our country will always be free. It’s been proven for 250 years. We are stronger than any petty little politician that comes along.

When we sing our national anthem, “Our flag was still there, ’oer the land of the free and the home of the brave,’ we believe it because it’s true, and always will be.
