On Nov. 13 at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hilo High School’s cheerleading team achieved an impressive second-place finish in the COED division of the 2024 Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) Cheerleading Championships.

The accomplishment marked the first time Hilo High’s cheer team has brought home a state trophy. The championship title in the COED division was claimed by Radford High School, who scored 45.650 points. The Vikings tallied 41.933 points, and third-place finisher PAC-5 scored 40.450.
