Margaret Kapalama Couttie, 80, of Kapaau died Sept. 20 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kohala, she was a retired cafeteria baker at Kohala High and Elementary School, member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Kohala Senior Citizens, ‘Ahahui Ka’ahumanu ‘O Kohala, Na Kupuna ‘O Kohala, Kohala Gateball Club and Kohala Kumiai. Visitation 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 16) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi. Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at the Hawi Catholic Cemetery. Casual attire. Survived by daughter, Elizabeth (Moses) Bautista of Kohala; sister, Miriam Ray of Kohala; brother, Dickie Richards of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Born in Hilo, she was a retired clerk-typist for the former Hilo Medical Center, and enjoyed sewing and crafting. Private services. Charles Rodillas, 101, of Hilo died Oct. 31 at home. Born in Villa Franca, Hilo, he was a retired typesetter for the Hawaii Tribune-Herald, a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a master vanda hybrid orchid cultivator. Gary George Houston, 76, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 14 in Kealakekua. He was a harvesting supervisor for the former Hamakua Sugar Plantation Company, a security guard for Aloha Security in Hilo and a veteran of the National Guard during the Vietnam War.
