Eugene Tavares, 88, of Honokaa died Aug. 14 at Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born in Pepeekeo, he was a retired worker for the former Hamakua Sugar Co. and a member of Christian Fellowship and the Salvation Army.
