Juan Acoba Acob, 85, of Papaaloa died July 17 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired landscaper for the Hilton Waikoloa Village and served as a 2nd lieutenant in the Philippine Air Force. Private service for family, relatives and family friends. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 18) at Honokaa Seventh-day Adventist Vhurch. Service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow in church cemetery. Kayono “Kay” Okamoto

Kayono “Kay” Okamoto, 104, of Hilo died Aug. 10 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Olaa, she was retired from the former Tajiri Auto Repair, worked for the former Kamehameha Garment Co. in Hilo and was a member of Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by son, Alan (Charlene) Okamoto of Hilo; daughter, Gail (Calvin) Ito of West Hills, Calif.; sister-in-law, Chizuko Tarutani of Honolulu; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Dale Fergerstrom Roque

Dale Fergerstrom Roque, 72, of Waimea died Aug. 10. She was born Waimea and raised on the slopes of Mauna Kea. Private celebration of life at a later date.
