Hilo Bayfront has been cleaned and smoothed as the county prepares for the upcoming International Va‘a Federation World Sprints on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024. The international canoe racing event, hosted by Hawaii Canoe Racing Association, will bring hundreds of paddlers from around the world to Hilo as they compete in various categories of outrigger canoe racing and exhibitions from Aug. 13 to Aug. 24.
