Masato “Masao” Nakamoto

Masato “Masao” Nakamoto, 100, of Kailua-Kona died July 5 in Kailua-Kona. Born in Kainaliu, he was a chiropractor who practiced in Milwaukee, a member of the Milwaukee Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League and graduated in 1942 from Konawaena High School and in 1953 from the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Ill. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). No services. Survived by children, Kathy (Mark Miller) of Naperville, Ill., Lester (Jeanne) of Jackson, Wis., Carol (Gary Kohlnhofer) of New Berlin, Wis., and Karen (John Coons) of Chicago; brother, Junichi; two sisters-in-law; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews. Lilly Mitsue Yamane

Lilly Mitsue Yamane, 92, of Napoopoo died July 7 at home. Born in Wailuku, Maui, she was a full-time volunteer for Jehovah’s Witnesses and member of the Keokea Congregation. No services. Survived by son, Brian K. (Cynthia) Yamane of Kona; daughter, Gail S. Medeiros of Kona; sisters, Thelma Ogata and Jane (Jimmy) Shintani; brothers, Stanley (Shirley) Yamashita of Oahu and Richard (Elaine) Yamashita Jr. of Maui; three granddaughters, three great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews. Alvin Godfrey Castro III

Alvin Godfrey Castro III, 21, of Waimea died June 28 in Waimea. Born in Waimea, he did maintenance at the Makani Golf Club. Visitation 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Mana Christian Ohana, 67-1182 Lindsey Rd. in Waimea. Service at 11 a.m. Survived by mother, Kristen Castro of Waimea; girlfriend, Jazlyn Kawasaki of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Jasmine (Justen Kawamoto) Juan Leong, Kiana (Kea Ibana) Juan Leong and Kayli-Ann Castro of Waimea, Ashlyn Castro of Honolulu; brother, Caleb Castro of Waimea; grandfather, Alvin (Thelma Meheula) Castro Sr. of Honolulu; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Zachary McQuaid Stubbs

Zachary McQuaid Stubbs, 29, of Holualoa died June 19 in Kealakekua. Born in Provo, Utah, he was a commercial waste truck driver. Memorial service held. Florentina Ibea Yadao

Florentina Ibea Yadao, 90, of Hilo, formerly of Paauilo, died July 19 at home. Born in Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was retired from Hirako Farms in Waimea and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Visitation 8-9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Section 7. Casual attire. Survived by daughters, Nelly (Roger) Aliga of Hilo, Norma (George) Ancheta of Honokaa and Elisa (Daniel) Cabal of Hilo; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Marion Joyce Putzel

Marion Joyce Putzel, 88, of Captain Cook, died June 6 at home. She was born in Westfield, Maine. Private family services. Mieko Nishimura

Mieko Nishimura, 84, of Hilo died July 29 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Nagasaki, Japan, she was a retired Japanese language instructor for the U.S. Department of Defense.
