Earl Wayne Spence, 77, of Waimea died June 19 at Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Laupahoehoe, he was a retired livestock manager for Kahuku Ranch, agronomist for Parker Ranch, active with the Mauna Kea Soil and Water Conservation District, NRCS, Hawaii Cattlemen’s Association, Hawaii Cattlemen’s Council, Hawaii Cattle Producers Cooperative Association and West Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization. Private celebration of life at a later date. Survived by wife, Betty Spence of Waimea; daughter, Sarah Spence of Missoula, Mont.; son, Scott Spence of Waimea; sister, Coleen Hickam of Fredericksburg, Texas; two grandsons; a sister-in-law, a brother-in-law and nephews. Philomena “Phyllis” K. Jackson

Shawn Kainoa Kahalewai, 54, of Hilo died June 10 in Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was a laborer for Island Moving Co. who loved the beach, fishing and being with his wife and family. Dale Shannon Dinsmore, 86, of Keaau died June 30 at home. Born in Fairbanks, Alaska, she was a retired technical librarian and travel agent, volunteer at Lyman Museum and Palace Theater, and member of Centers for Spiritual Living East Hawaii, Big Island Women in Travel and American Rhododendron Society. Survived by sons, Daniel (Brita) Dinsmore of Shelton, Wash., and Kendal (Angela Chi Chen) Dinsmore of Eastvale, Calif.; daughter, Danika (Ken Ashdown) Dinsmore of Gibsons, British Columbia, Canada; a granddaughter.
