Richard “Richie” K. Akana

Richard “Richie” K. Akana, 56, of Captain Cook died June 19 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was an electrician for Uchimura Construction and avid lauhala weaver. Celebration of life and spreading of ashes in Kona at a later date. Talalelei Vole, 40, of Kailua-Kona died June 22, at home. Born in Pago Pago, American Samoa, he was a security manager at the Royal Kona Resort and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hauula, Oahu. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Thursday, July 11, at Kona United Methodist Church in Kailua-Kona. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial 1 p.m. Friday, July 12, at Valley of the Temples in Kaneohe, Oahu. Petra Austria Lopez, 91, of Pahoa died June 24 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Paniqui Tarlac, Philippines, she was a retired nursery worker for Anthuriums of Hawaii and deaconess for the Church of Christ (Iglesia Ni Cristo) in Keaau. Jackie Lynn Suzuki, 65, of Kailua-Kona died April 27 in Kona. Born in Alhambra, Calif., she was a retired pre-school teacher, childcare provider and the owner of Jackie’s Balloon Creations. Celebration of life at 10:30 a.m. (viewing) with service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 13 at Kona Hongwanji Hall. Lunch to follow. The family requests no flowers. Survived by husband, Owen M.
