Feliza Malaqui Luis, 88, of Pepeekeo died April 12 at a care home in Hilo. Born in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was retired from Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co. and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou. Eulogy at 9:40 a.m. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire. Survived by husband, Osias Luis of Pepeekeo; daughters, Ofelia “Ofel” (Sam) Cordero of Bedford, Texas, and Teresita “Tess” (Al Burruso) Luis of Honolulu; son, Edward (Carla) Luis of Torrance, Calif.; sister, Lolita (Julio) Doronio of San Diego; sisters-in-law, Gorgonia Jacinto of Honolulu, Maximina Malaqui of Naalehu and Cristita Luis of Ainaloa; brother-in-law, Petrolino (Lina) Luis of Wainaku; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and cousins. Soon Yur Kim Nakatsu

Soon Yur Kim Nakatsu, 97, of Hilo died Jan. 26 at home. Born in Waialua, Oahu, she was a retired registered nurse, LPN training lead instructor at Hawaii Community College, public health nurse, U.S. Army Nursing Corps veteran, masters in nursing graduate at the University of Washington, golfer, gardener, Korean drama fan and frequent Las Vegas visitor. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by sons, Owen (Susan) Nakatsu of Hilo and Riley (Judy) Nakatsu of Bellevue, Wash.; brother, Dr. Jeffrey Kim of La Habra, Calif.; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Atsuko Murakami Cabanas

Atsuko Murakami Cabanas, 106, of Hilo died March 10 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Hakalau, she was a retired co-owner and seamstress for the former S. Cabanas Tailor. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by son, Wendell (Gabriella) Cabanas of Hilo; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Gladys Sadae Nishiura

Gladys Sadae Nishiura, 79, of Hilo died Feb. 26 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Honokaa, she was a homemaker, member of Hilo Meishoin Tsukikage Odorikai and honorary member of the Urasenke Tankokai Hilo Association. Private services held. Survived by daughter, Amy Nishiura of Hilo; brother, Dr. Roy (Lynette) Fujitani of Irvine, Calif.; brothers-in-law, Norman Nishiura of Oahu and Hideo (Betty) Nishiura of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Takako Desaki of Oahu, Sadako Aburamen and Matsue Nishiura of Hilo; nieces and nephews. Ralph Masaru Nishiyama

Ralph Masaru Nishiyama, 83, of Kainaliu died April 8 at a private care home. Born in Waipahu, Oahu, he was retired from the state Division of Workforce Development, a food and beverage manager for the former Kona Surf Resort, the former Spencecliff, Uncle Billy’s, King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel, Colony Resort Kanaloa, and Jolly Roger restaurants. Services at a later date. Survived by wife, Geraldine Nishiyama of Kainaliu; daughter, Laura Samaranayake of Kainaliu; brother, Melvin (Soon Wah) Nishiyama of Honolulu; two nieces and a nephew. Kaname Sumiki, 86, of Keaau died April 11 at Life Care Center of Hilo. He was a retired self-employed carpenter, green-thumb gardener and U.S. Army veteran. Services held. Christopher Wylie Osburn

Christopher Wylie Osburn, 60, of Hilo died March 22 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in San Francisco and raised in Mendocino, Calif., he was employed in the hotel industry.
