Waikoloa Road Rehabilitation project ongoing
Work continues on the Waikoloa Road Rehabilitation, which extends from Mamalahoa Highway to Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway.
Workers are generally on-site from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, weather permitting.
In some cases, work could continue until 5:30 p.m. when necessary to complete daily paving operations to ensure safe conditions, according to the Hawaii County Department of Public Works.
Traffic delays can be expected because large trucks, equipment and personnel will be on the roadway.
This is a special reminder to all bicyclists using the Waikoloa Road during construction: Bicyclists must obey traffic regulations, traffic-control signs and instructions from traffic-flaggers. This is an active construction zone, and for their safety and the safety of vehicles and workers, please follow the rules of the road.
If possible, bicyclists and motorists are encouraged to utilize other routes, especially during working hours.
