Abraham Kalanikau Manuia, 78, of Hilo died Jan. 28 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired sergeant for the Hawaii County Police Department, was previously a Honolulu Police Department officer and member of Keaukaha Ward of Yhe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pana‘ewa Hawaiian Homes Association, ‘Ukulele Mo Fun of Hilo and former member of Hilo Junior Golf Association. Visitation 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday (March 16) at the Hilo Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire. Born in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan, Philippines, he was retired from Hilton Waikoloa Village and worked at the former Hamakua Sugar Co. and a sawmill in the Philippines.
