Charles Thomas Kawamoto, 79, of Pahoa, died Jan. 30 at a care home in Hilo. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired manager for the former Pahoa Cash & Carry, (Hawaii Retail Business of the Year 2000), proprietor of Pahoa Radio Control Hobbies, Wholesale Trophies Unlimited and Paintball Performance Equipment, U.S. Army and Hawaii Army National Guard veteran, past president of Hui O’ Puna Jaycees, state archery champion, go-kart racer and member of Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Visitation from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, 16-492 Old Volcano Rd, Keaau. Memorial service to follow at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Grace Kawamoto; sons, Ryan (Liane Tamashiro) Kawamoto, Cody (Collette Chinen) Kawamoto, Cole Kawamoto and sister, Linda (Wilfred Jr.) Keola. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Nixon Yutaka Arakaki

Nixon Yutaka Arakaki, 63, of Kealakekua died Feb. 28 at home. Born in Kealakekua, he was an auto body technician. Survived by sisters, Hatsumi Arakaki and Amy (Peter) Gorham. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Henry T. Dela Rosa

Henry T. Dela Rosa, 81, of Honokaa died Feb. 11 at home. Born in Haina, he was an assistant factory superintendent for the former Hamakua Sugar Co., then retired from the engineering department at Mauna Lani Bay Hotel. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Services at 10 a.m. Lunch to follow. Survived by wife, Luzonica Dela Rosa of Honokaa; children, Faith (Shon) Olivera, Gaylene (Kalae) Dela Rosa and Eric (Aisley) Dela Rosa; sister, Dorothy (Francis) Nakamoto; sisters-in-law, Sumie Dela Rosa and Aloha Dela Rosa; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Betty K. Miyashiro

Betty K. Miyashiro, 94, of Hilo died Nov. 14, 2023. Born in South Hilo, she was a homemaker. Private services held. Survived by sons, Dale Y. Miyashiroand Mark Y. Miyashiro; daughter, JoAnn K. Susan Haruko Mori

Susan Haruko Mori, 75, of Holualoa died Feb. 28 at home. Born and raised in Kealakekua, she was a communications aide for the state Department of Education and member of Waiaha Kumiai.
