Momoyo “Peggy” Hamano

Momoyo “Peggy” Hamano, 98, of Honolulu, formerly of Hilo, died Dec. 4, in Honolulu. Born in Kapulena, she was retired from the former Hilo Hattie’s Fashion Center and a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Private services held. Survived by sons, Wayne (Laurie) Hamano of Kailua, Oahu, and Paul (Reiko) Hamano of Hilo; sister, Betty Sanehira of Hilo; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

John “Jack” Edward Bowen

John “Jack” Edward Bowen, 85, of Hilo died Dec. 7. Born in Washington D.C., he was a firefighter with the College Park, Md., Fire Department, became a Hazmat Trainer in Hawaii and worldwide, worked for C. Brewer and Co. and was a researcher for the University of Hawaii College of Tropical Agriculture. Memorial service at a later date. Condolences: Denise Marjarum, 5277 N. Salem Church Rd. Dan Thomas, 83, of Mountain View died Jan. 14 at home. Born in Oklahoma, he was a jack-of-all-trades, police officer, excavation business owner and U.S. Army veteran. Survived by partner, Susie Cousins; children, Michelle, Dani (Tom), Karen, Aspen, Lela, and Meaghan (Sam); brothers, Wayne and Frank; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary Luella Schultz

Mary Luella Schultz, 76, of Mountain View died March 14, 2023, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Portland, Ore., she was an office manager for Fern Acres Community Association, co-owner for nearly 20 years of Rainbow Acres Farm, a hydroponic lettuce farm and business, and avid gardener.
