BIIF boys soccer: KSH aims to complete perfect season in state match

HONOLULU — Four Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) schools continued their boys soccer seasons in the state tournament on Oahu on Friday, with each squad attempting to end their seasons on a high note.

KSH 3 – SEABURY HALL 0

Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i punched its ticket to the state championship match after shutting out Seabury Hall 3-0 in the Division II semifinals.

The Warriors’ William Henderson led the way with two goals — one in the 27th minute and the other in the 71st. Iopa Quintana also added another goal in the 75th minute.

Thus far in 2023-24, KS-Hawai‘i has displayed its dominance by recording eight shutouts and scoring 64 goals across 13 games.

Yet to lose a match this season, KSH (13-0-0) will aim for the perfect finish against Island School (11-1-1) in the Division II state championship at 5 p.m. today on Oahu.

KEALAKEHE 4 – KALANI 3 (PK)

The Kealakehe Waveriders (10-3-0) won in nail-biting fashion against Kalani on Oahu — escaping in penalty kicks by a score of 4-3 to advance to play King Kekaulike in the DI fifth-place championship game at 3 p.m. today.

Previously, Kealakehe fell to No. 1 seed Iolani in the quarterfinals Tuesday by a score of 2-1 — placing the Waveriders in the consolation bracket.

Kalani’s season ended at 8-5-3.

HPA 3 – WAIPAHU 0

Ka Makani won its fifth-place DII semifinal match against Waipahu, notching a 3-0 victory.

Earlier in the week, HPA fell to Island 1-0 in the quarterfinals — placing Ka Makani in the consolation bracket.

While Waipahu’s season has ended, HPA will play Castle for fifth in the state today at 3 p.m. on Oahu.

KING KEKAULIKE 2 – WAIAKEA 1

King Kekaulike beat Waiakea in the fifth-place semis on Oahu by a close score of 2-1.

Waiakea qualified for the consolation competition after losing to Punahou 4-1 in the quarterfinals Thursday.

While the Warriors’ season ends at 7-5-1, Na Alli (11-3-1) will play Kealakehe for the fifth-place Division I crown today at 3 p.m.
