Hawaii County is preparing to pave three roads in Kona beginning next week.

Highway Maintenance Chief Neil Azevedo said the projects will run concurrently starting with Kuakini Highway from Palani Road to Old Kona Airport Park. He expects that project to take about one week.

After paving is complete on Kuakini, the crew will move to Kamehameha III Road paving from the light at the gas station mauka to Kuakini Highway, with an estimated time of two weeks for completion.

Finally, Old Mamalahoa Highway from Teshima’s Restaurant heading approximately two miles towards Holualoa.

All work is scheduled to be completed by the end of March.

Hours for paving at all sites will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Traffic boards will be installed to notify motorists to expect delays.
