Powerful Tools For Caregivers Classes Offered in Waimea
Powerful Tools for Caregivers (PTC) classes will be offered in Waimea beginning on January 11, 2024. A group of 6 – 8 family caregivers will meet on Thursdays, from January 11 to February 15, 2024 at TuTu’s House, 64-1032 Mamalahoa Hwy, #305, Waimea, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Classes will help participants learn to handle their caregiving challenges. Total cost for the whole six-week series is a registration fee of $10. AAUW -Kona speaker series meeting, Wed., Jan. 24
Please join on January 24 at 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m.us at Hale G in the West Hawaii Civic Center for this very important meeting on open membership in American Association of University Women (AAUW-Kona). There will be a vote to change the Bylaws at the national level in April 2024. All members will receive an email with a link to vote online.
Hawaii campaign chair, Karen Gold, and AAUW-Kona president Jamie Pardau, will give a presentation on what the future of AAUW holds and why we are voting on this crucial issue again after the 2021 ballot. Q &A and discussion will follow the presentation. The meeting is free and open to the public.
Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival is February 3
Think pink for the 31st Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival on Saturday, Feb. 3. Headquartered from Church Row Park, the multi-venue event is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and celebrates the park”s annual blooming of its historic cherry trees.
Spend the day to experience Japanese and multi-cultural performing arts, plus hands-on demonstrations of bonsai, traditional tea ceremony, food preparation by local chefs and craft vendors. Roberts Hawaii will provide a free transportation shuttle between Church Row Park and Parker Ranch Center, though walking is encouraged.
The Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival is produced by the Hawai‘i County Parks and Recreation’s Culture and Education Section. The event is a community-wide effort by a dedicated team of volunteers. For info, 808-961-8706; find updates on Facebook
