KEALAKEHE — In mercy-rule fashion in front of the Waverider faithful, Kealakehe boys soccer routed local opponent Makua Lani by a score of 9-0 on Friday at Waverider Stadium. The match ended in the 63rd minute once the Waveriders secured the final goal needed for the mercy rule.
Kealakehe (2-0 overall) played fast and aggressive, as Aukele Paikuli-Campbell, Duke Kapuniai and Ezekiel Imai scored goals for the blue and white.
The Waveriders will return to action Wednesday, where the team will travel east to face Waiakea. Makua Lani (0-1 overall) will also next play Wednesday, taking on Konawaena at Julian R. Yates Field.
Warriors blank Cougars
Waiakea girls soccer comfortably handled Kea‘au on Thursday on the road by winning 9-0 — the second straight match this season in which the Warriors beat the Cougars by that margin.
Waiakea had six goal scorers — Sayde Pamarang (2), Ailani Franklin (2), Kira Kuramoto (2), Shaunte Fernandez, Kalia Franklin and Lana Mahi-Murray.
The Warriors (3-0 overall) next play Kealakehe on Wednesday at home. Kea‘au (0-2 overall) will head up to Hilo High on Tuesday to face the Vikings.
KSH shuts out Parker in opener
Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i boys soccer shut out Parker on Thursday by a score of 9-0 in Waimea, securing its season-opening win.
Five different Warriors scored goals for KSH — Willam Henderson (3), Lucas Kay-Wong (3), Kanoa Honda, Micha Chung and Gabriel Arquitola,
KSH (1-0 overall) will travel across the island to play Konawaena at 4 p.m. today at Julian R. Yates Field. Parker (0-3 overall) will head to Honoka‘a to play the Dragons at 3 p.m. today.
