Carmelita Mary Bacio, 69, of Mountain View, died on October 29th. Born in Hilo, Hawaii, she was a store clerk, caretaker, and nurse. Lawrence Shoji Hatayama, 87, of Hilo died Oct. 29 at the Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Olaa, he was the co-owner of the former Truck &Trailer Service, Inc., member of the Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Private services held. Family requests no flowers and no koden (monetary gifts), Survived by son, Neal (Jo-Ann) Hatayama of Hilo; brother, Kenichi Hatayama of Hilo; sisters, Patsy Umeno of California, Janice Manalili of Kona; two grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Bethany Waters
Bethany Kay Waters, 69, of Ocean View, Hawaii, died November 11, 2023 at her residence. Born august 6, 1954 in Portland, Oregon, she was a retired emergency room nurse at Ka’u Hospital, and worked at Providence Hood River Memorial. She is survived by her husband, Mark Waters; sons, Sean Waters, Aaron Waters; daughter, Megan (James) O’Dell, all of Ocean View. Services will be held at a later date. Saeko Kuramoto Sato, 90, of Hilo, died Nov. 7, 2023, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Hilo, she was the retired owner of the former Hilo Radiator &Glass and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Hilo Meishoin and Waiakea Houselots Kumiai. Private services held. She is survived by daughters, Colleen (Robin) Morishita of Chula Vista, Calif., Maureen (John) Conlon of Fremont, Calif.; siblings, Kikuyo (Takashi) Sasaki of Hilo, Richard (Charlene) Kuramoto of Cerritos, Calif., Jerald (Colleen) Kuramoto of Las Vegas, Nev., Burton Kuramoto of Taylor, Texas; five grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Sammy Supnet
Sammy Santos Supnet, Sr., 75, of Pepeekeo, died Nov. 8 at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. He was born in San Jose, Calif. and was a retired meat cutter with Safeway, a Vietnam Veteran of the US Marine Corps and was also a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Visitation 8:30-9 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 25) at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou. A mass will be held at 9 a.m. Visitation also 9-10:30 a.m. Monday (Nov. 27) at the Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Committal service will follow at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2 pavilion. Albert Walter Kaleimamahu Todd, III, 70, of Naalehu died Nov. 6 at the Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Kealakekua and was a commercial fisherman. Private services held.
