Kona Marlins cheer seeks support

The Kona Marlins Youth Sports Assocation, a local youth sports organization open to keiki of 6 to 14 years old, fielded a junior cheer team that won the Pop Warner Regional Cheer Competition on Oct. 21. With the first-place finish, the girls qualified for the Pop Warner National Cheer Competition on Dec. 2 in Orlando, Fla.

With a team of 10 cheerleaders and seven staff, the group needs to raise around $3,500 each to make its voyage to the mainland possible. The organization is kindly asking for anyone willing to help donate to this cause.

“We come to you in the hope of enlisting your support to help our cheer girls with their travel expenses through a sponsorship or donation,” association president Masina Ropati said in a release. “Sponsorships and or donations are not limited to any amount — all support is appreciated.”
