HCFCU commits to community education with upcoming classes

Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union (HCFCU), a leading financial institution serving Hawai‘i Island, is excited to announce a slate of upcoming classes and seminars designed to empower and educate the community.

The class series begins with Simplifying Social Security on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 7, at Suite Possibilities, Kailani Conference Room, 75-5915 Walua Rd., Kailua-Kona. Scott Chikuma, regional vice president for MassMutual Ascend, will provide attendees with an understanding of Social Security, and learn how to plan for it. This free two-hour class will cover a range of topics including how Social Security fits into your retirement income plan, what to consider when filing, and how to decide when to collect Social Security. In partnership with the Waipahu Community School for Adults, HCFCU offers a Digital Literacy class. These sessions occur from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from Oct. 17 through Dec. 5, and are. held at Kealakehe Intermediate School, 74-5062 Onipaa St. in Kailua-Kona. This course will equip kupuna and adults with skills in how to use a computer, troubleshoot basic challenges, understand and articulate preferences for computer use, set up and manage an email account, navigate the internet, and much more. Finally, find clear answers to Medicare questions and take advantage of the benefits provided by United Health Care and Wellcare – Ohana. There are many opportunities available for these classes.

On Thursday, Oct. 19, Thursday, Oct. 26 and Friday, Nov. 10 they will be held at La‘i‘opua 2020 Conference Room, 74-5210 Keanalehu Dr. in Kailua-Kona; sessions for United Health Care are from 9 to 10:30 a.m., for Wellcare – Ohana from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. An additional day, Friday, Nov. 17, takes place at Suite Possibilities, Kailani Conference Room, 75-5915 Walua Rd. in Kailua-Kona.
