Kealakehe golfers compete in Kauai

LIHUE — The Hawaii State Junior Golf Association (HSJGA) conducted the 2023 Kauai Junior Championship at the last weekend at Puakea Golf Course. A total of 57 junior golfers from across the state teed up in the event — including two Kealakehe golfers in the boys 15-18 flight. Noah Izawa Okazaki finished with a 160 gross score over two rounds, while Ulukoanui Kailiwai posted a 166.

The tournament awarded points for HSJGA Player of the Year and the season race to the coveted HSJGA Championship on Maui in December.

The offcial tournament winners were as follows:

Boys 7-10: Jason Uno, Honolulu

Boys 11-12: Carson Kage, Honolulu

Boys 13-14: Graham Morgan, Kilauea*

Boys 15-18: Noah Otani, Hilo

Girls 7-10: Lucy Cui, Honolulu

Girls 11-12: Makena Yonemura, Waipahu

Girls 13-14: Alexa Takai, Honolulu

Girls 15-18: Jasmine Wong, Honolulu

*All ties for first place for awards were broken by the USGA tiebreaker method

Girls 7-10, Par 72, HSJGA Junior Tees (4,619 yards)

Boys 11-12, Par 72, Red Tees (5,225 yards)

Girls 11-12, Par 72, Red Tees (5,225 yards)

Boys 13-14, Par 72, Blue Tees (6,478 yards)
